The tuba has a wide variety of extended techniques!

Due to it’s large size, it creates its own acoustic within the instrument that mean multiphonics (playing multiple notes at the same time) are particularly effective and projecting.

The Tuba can also play with an enormous range.

This includes having the “pedal” register available to it which is a register that is often “felt” more than heard. It gets its name after the pedals on an organ which are capable of producing notes that are in the double digits of Hz.
